There is a stamp on each piece of glass on my door. Can it be removed?

Each insulated glass unit in our doors is permanently stamped to indicate that it is safety tempered glass, meeting industry-required safety standards.

The safety stamp is applied using durable methods that cannot be removed without damaging the glass. This is a requirement under the International Building Code (IBC). Specifically, safety markings must be: Acid etched, Sand blasted, Ceramic fired, Laser etched, Embossed or applied using another permanent method that cannot be removed without destroying the integrity of the glass.
These markings are essential to confirm that the glass meets ANSI Z97.1 safety standards, which require that tempered glass is properly identified for both building inspections and homeowner safety.

Additionally, the glass used in our doors is manufactured by a certified licensee of the SGCC® (Safety Glazing Certification Council) and fully complies with the requirements of ANSI Z97.1-2015 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 standards. These certifications ensure that the glass has passed rigorous testing for strength, impact resistance, and durability.

While the stamp may be visible, especially under certain lighting conditions, it is a critical part of compliance and safety verification — and cannot legally or physically be removed without damaging the glass.

If you have further questions about glass certifications, safety compliance, or the performance of our insulated glass units, our team is happy to assist.
