On a double door, why aren't the flush bolt holes pre-drilled in the frame and sill?

The flush bolts on your passive door secure it to the frame at the top and to the sill cap at the bottom. Because these holes need to align precisely with the bolt positions once the frame is fully set, pre-drilling them at the factory would create more problems than it solves. Even a slight shift in the frame during installation would throw off the alignment, leaving you with bolts that don't seat properly.

Your installer is responsible for drilling these holes on site, after the frame is set, so the placement is exact. Use a circular drill bit that matches the diameter of the bolt. Do not go larger. An oversized hole will allow the passive door to have too much movement.
