Is the Low-E glass hard-coated or soft-coated?
The Low-E glass used in our doors is hard-coated.
Hard-coat Low-E glass has the Low-E coating baked directly into the surface of the glass during the manufacturing process. This makes it extremely durable and long-lasting, withstanding handling, cleaning, and environmental exposure much better than soft-coated alternatives.
While both hard-coat and soft-coat Low-E glass improve energy efficiency by reflecting heat and blocking harmful UV rays, hard-coat Low-E glass is particularly well-suited for entry doors because of its enhanced durability and ability to perform reliably in exterior environments.
In addition to its hard-coat Low-E layer, our glass is also:
- Double-pane insulated for superior energy efficiency
- Tempered for added safety and strength
- Designed to reduce heat transfer and protect interior furnishings from UV fading
