Please review the following important notices before purchasing:
Not a Complete List of Code Considerations: The information provided here is intended to highlight common code and site-specific factors that may affect product suitability for your project. However, this is not an all-encompassing list. Local building codes vary significantly by region, and additional requirements may apply to your specific application. Your general contractor and local building department are the best authorities to confirm compliance.
No Florida Product Approval
This door does not have Florida Product Approval, which is required under the Florida Building Code (FBC) for certain exterior products installed in the State of Florida. Florida Product Approval certifies that building components meet state-mandated performance standards, particularly for wind resistance and impact protection.
As a result, this product may not be eligible for permitting or installation in jurisdictions where Florida Product Approval is required, including but not limited to HVHZ and WBD regions. This product should not be considered code-compliant in those areas.
No TDI Windstorm Certification
This door does not have product evaluation or windstorm certification from the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), which is required for certain exterior products installed in designated catastrophe areas along the Texas Gulf Coast. TDI product evaluation verifies that building components meet structural performance standards related to wind resistance, as required under the Texas Windstorm Insurance Program.
As a result, this product may not be eligible for permitting, installation, or insurance coverage in coastal windstorm-designated regions. It should not be considered code-compliant for projects where TDI product approval is required.
Impact & DP Ratings
Unless explicitly stated, these doors do not carry DP or Impact ratings and are not approved for use in Wind Borne Debris (WBD) zones or High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ), such as those found in coastal Florida.
- DP Rating (Design Pressure Rating): Identifies the amount of wind pressure and, in some cases, static snow load a door or window can withstand in its end-use application. Measured in pounds per square foot (psf), it reflects structural performance under wind, air, and water pressure, especially in wind-prone areas.
- Impact Rating: Certifies that a door or glass unit can resist flying debris and sudden pressure changes during extreme weather events such as hurricanes. This rating is typically required in coastal regions and HVHZ zones.
Energy Efficiency Regulations
Some areas require specific U-Factor and SHGC values for energy code compliance. Please verify whether your selected door meets the standards required in your jurisdiction.
Fire Ratings
Our standard doors are not fire-rated. Fire-rated doors are typically required between garages and living spaces or in multi-unit residential buildings. Always confirm with your local code enforcement office whether a fire-rated door is required for your project.
High-Altitude Installations
Insulated glass used in our doors is not designed for high-elevation use unless otherwise noted. Atmospheric pressure at high altitudes can affect performance and may void the warranty.
Egress Requirements
Certain doors on the home may need to meet minimum egress dimensions. Confirm with your local building codes whether egress requirements apply to your project.
ADA Compliance
Standard thresholds and hardware may not meet ADA accessibility requirements unless specified. Check your local accessibility codes for compliance needs. We do offer ADA-compliant thresholds. Please contact us to discuss options.
